Maya Contreras’ love of the arts has given her a substantial background in writing and production.

As a professional writer she’s covered the music, film, fashion and art industries. She’s conducted interviews with the iconic fashion designer Calvin Klein, comedy television stars Illana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson (‘Broad City’), Filmmaker Larry Clark (‘Kids’), The Cast of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Comedian Bill Burr and Television Producer and Comedy Writer Stephen Merchant (‘The Office’, ‘Extras’, UK) and many more.  She is currently a featured writer for the popular artist’s website Crazytown.

Her plays’ ‘The Bloodline of Shadrick Grace and ‘On The Use and Disadvantages of Leaving’ were both Official FringeNYC Selections consecutively in 2014 and 2015. Her short film Final Portrait wrapped production in London in Winter 2016 and will be on the short film circuit Fall 2016. Her newest play ‘Let The Devil Take The Hindmost’ is in pre-production for FringeNYC August 2016.

As an artist management associate Maya’s had the privilege of being on the management team for Academy Award winner Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line), Academy Award winner Bill Conti (Rocky), Tony Award winning Actress Betty Buckley (Cats), Kennedy Center Honoree and legendary pianist Leon Fleisher and Grammy award winning conductor Sir Simon Rattle, to name a few.

She is thrilled to be a co-host for PBS’ Brewed in NY, a MagicWig production coming this Fall 2016.
